Hello everyone!
Suburban life can be nice – wide streets, free parking, quiet nights, spacious lawns, homey porches – but sometimes, all the monotony and uniformity just becomes unbearably stunting. Where I live, the lack of diversity in people, architecture, and landscape makes me so depressed at times! When I fall into such a rut, I desperately carve out the time and the mileage to visit places that make me feel more relaxed and recharged. A change of scenery will do wonders for the soul.
And so yesterday, I found myself at one of my favorite LA spots – the Getty Center. Surrounded by the bright travertine stone walls and warmed by the rays of the afternoon sun, I felt more relaxed than I have been in a long time. The sun may have been shining brightly, but there was also a bit of a chilly breeze that initially gave my exposed skin goosebumps but then felt amazingly refreshing. Even though there was a larger crowd than usual at the Getty (I’m assuming it was because of Easter Sunday), and I have a particularly strong dislike for crowds, I just wanted to spend hours reclining on the stone benches, reading in the cafe courtyard, and meandering around the pillars and through the gardens, lost in my own thoughts. I didn’t want to leave!
But of course, good things don’t last forever. I’m back in my suburbia bubble, but I’m so glad I escaped for a few hours to recharge my mind and that the weather cooperated so I could wear my favorite LBD (I got it for an unbelievable price of $8 from a couple of years ago) layered under a trench vest (SO perfectly versatile for the warmer months!). I’ll probably be uploading more scenic shots onto my Instagram as I mentally revisit the Getty Center throughout this week so you can follow up there.
Thank you for reading! Here’s to tackling and surviving this brand new week! Have a great Monday!
P.S. If you haven’t watched Furious 7 of the Fast & Furious franchise yet, go go go! And prepare to shed some tears at the Paul Walker tribute..
