If you haven’t been following my Instagram, then it’ll be news to you that earlier this week, I came back from a quick trip to Seattle! Ever since returning, it’s been diving nose-first into piles of work and chaos (these next few weeks are crazy!), but I’ve been trying to sort through all the photos and thoughts that I wanted to share. Bit by bit, it will all come together, but in the meantime, here’s a little snippet on airport style.
When it comes to dressing for air travel, looking stylish goes hand in hand with practicality. Looking good only matters if you feel good too (hint: stashing a bottle of Evian Facial Spray will also do wonders in helping you feel good during your flight). Although the apparent comfort of sweat pants and Uggs do seem tempting at times, I dare say you will never catch me in that combination. Instead, I love turning to the queens of airport style – Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chrissy Teigen, and Gigi Hadid – for inspiration.
To help you plan your next air-travel outfit, I’ve compiled four important questions you should ask yourself, as well as smart shopping suggestions, to inspire your perfect airport look!
Am I wearing the right shoes?
When choosing shoes, one important thing to consider is whether they are easy to take on and off for passing through security – you don’t want to be that one girl with the complicated gladiator sandals holding up the entire line, unless you want to be harangued by the TSA officers and receive death glares from the travelers behind you in line. The other essential point to think about is whether your shoes will still be comfortable by the end of your flight, because your feet will swell up a bit while you’re in the air. Flats are always a smart option, but if you’re like me and have this weird aversion to bare feet touching public floors, opt for shoes that go well with socks but are still easy to slip on/off, like sneakers or booties!

Sam Edelman Fringe Ankle Bootie

Is my jewelry easy to remove?
Unless your jewelry is solid gold, silver, or extremely dainty, it will most likely set off the alarm during checkpoint and thus must be removed. To avoid delaying yourself, skip the complicated statement jewelry and accessorize with pieces that can quickly be removed and put back on. Keep in mind that the ever-so-popular Cartier Love bracelet, which can only be removed with a screwdriver, will set off the metal detectors.
Tiffany & Co Elsa Peretti Diamond Necklace
Ted Baker Bow Wrist Cuff
Swarovski Delta Ring
Are my pants too tight?
This might seem like a silly question, but trust me – it’s an important one! The last thing you want is to feel constricted at the waistline as you sit for hours and be restricted in your movements as you try to squirm into a comfortable position in your seat. Go for pants that have some stretch, an adjustable waist, or offer a relaxed silhouette. A light-weight skirt is also a good option.

What will the weather be like when I land?
This is where layers come in handy. It’s important to think ahead and get an idea of what the climate/weather is like at your destination, because it might be significantly different from your departure city! Always be prepared with a scarf (bonus points if it can be doubled as a blanket!) and a cozy knit or jacket that you can grab from your carry-on.
