If you haven’t noticed by now, pleats are no longer just for schoolgirl uniforms. They’ve been dominating the dress scene for a while already, and I’m glad I can finally do an outfit feature on here with my pleated Warehouse dress. I’ve had this dress for months, but the last time I wore it out was sometime in November. It just somehow got lost in my closet! Oops.
I love that the pleats here are not hugely flamboyant. The subtle details in the skirt give way for a girly feel that’s mixed with sophisticated maturity, helped by the bit of lace on the rump that sits just above the pleats. The lightness of the fabric allows for the sashay movement of the skirt that I’ve always loved as a little girl. Paired with the elegant black Sloane satchel from Kate Spade, the outfit offers the perfect daytime ladylike look. But of course, I’m forever a fan of mixing (but still balancing) styles, so I toughened up the feminine tone with my leather bomber jacket from Mango and finished it off with sensible ankle boots.
Dress: Warehouse (sold out, but love the pleats on this one) | Jacket: Mango | Stockings: DKNY | Booties: Madden Girl | Bag: Kate Spade (also love the Selma) | Sunglasses: Michael Kors (similar)
