No Fail 70’s: Denim Skirt and Smoking Slippers

I’m so glad that fashion trends essentially run in a never-ending cycle, repeating itself every few years. The denim skirt, a wardrobe staple from the 70’s, is currently making a comeback in practically every girl’s closet just in time for the summer, and in keeping with the times, new silhouettes are emerging, making it all the more fun to style these classic favorites. Below, I’ve pulled together some of my favorite budget-friendly denim skirts, and you can also check out this list for more fun silhouettes.

When it comes to styling denim skirts, the ultimate trick is to keep it all simple and let the skirt command the attention. A fail-safe way to do that is to just add a white v-neck tee to the equation and you’ve got yourself a classic look that’s forever timeless no matter the decade. Denim skirts are commonly paired with sneakers (I’ve been seeing Converse as the popular choice), but I opted for these Restricted loafer flats instead.  The sleek lines of the flats provide a great contrast with the distressing on the skirt, and the architectural colorblock design on the shoes adds a nice unique touch, offering some sophistication to an otherwise laid-back look.

Do you have a favorite way to style a denim skirt? I’d love to hear about it!
