Ever since moving to New York City, I’ve become quite addicted to coffee. At work, I drink it black, usually with a dollop of milk, but on weekends, I love indulging in a cup of latte, usually in a bright, airy coffeeshop. Aussie cafes have taken over the NYC coffeeshop scene by a storm, so you’ll often find me reading, writing, or chatting with a friend in one of these.
Merriweather Cafe recently opened up on Hudson St in the West Village, and it has quickly become one of my favorite stops – a real West Village coffeeshop gem! With friendly baristas pouring a good cup of coffee or serving a delicious plate of avocado toast, Merriweather also has no shortage of locals wandering in for a caffeine fix or just whiling away the time with a good book or laptop. I have yet to see it super crowded; each time I’ve been, I’ve manage to secure a table by the window with ease, and the conversation buzz blends subtly in with the background playlist, allowing me to tune out the city noise and just enjoy the last of the autumn days before I hibernate through winter.
