Longer Days, Longer Hemlines

Here’s the question of the day: At what point do you switch out your short flippy skirt hemlines for longer ones?

While perusing my closet this morning, I realized that most of my skirts are on the shorter side (mid-thigh length). And while there’s nothing wrong with a girl in her 20’s rocking short and flirty hemlines, I’ve decided to make a pact with myself: no more buying skirts that hit at mid-thigh! Now that I’m no longer in college, I’m trying to make sure my wardrobe matures along with my age, and a skirt that grazes the knees, especially in a summer-ready crisp white color, lends a professionally chic and classic ladylike appeal to an everyday look.

A longer skirt also works as a figure-flattering closet staple that anyone can easily pull off. I have an hourglass shape, so I like to minimize my curvier thighs and bust while emphasizing my waistline. An outfit that cinches right at the waist is the best option for accentuating my figure, and that’s the fail-safe formula I almost always use to create my outfits. A high-waisted A-line skirt that sits at the waist, coupled with a simple v-neck tee, easily elongates the frame. Pointed-toe heels round out the look by adding height and polished charm!

Thank you so much for reading! Weekends are forever too short, and it’s (only) Monday, so here’s to speeding through the week so we can enjoy the 4th of July long holiday weekend!
