The best bra is one you never have to think about. Whether you’re juggling a million errands at home, working long hours at the office, or even just lounging around enjoying your Sunday afternoon, the best bra is one that is both comfortable and supportive through all of your moments.
Today, I’ve teamed up with ThirdLove to share three of my essential tips on lingerie care to get you looking and feeling your finest this holiday season!
Hand wash vs. machine wash
When in doubt, it’s always best to hand wash, especially for underwire bras. However, if you are like me and don’t necessarily have the time to do so, you can get away with a lingerie bag, lingerie detergent, gentle cycle and cold water (hint: use cold water for most of your clothes to keep them looking better longer!). Bottom line is, the better you treat your lingerie, the longer it will last.
Lingerie detergent
Lingerie detergents exist for a reason – regular ones tend to be more abrasive, meaning they break down fibers more quickly. Opt for lingerie detergents to prolong your undergarments’ shelf life.
To dry: lay flat or hang?
I personally like to hang, but this is actually entirely up your own preference! Just make sure that with whichever method you use, there is enough space for air to circulate in the drying process.
Prevent sag early on
Fun fact: Refrain from wearing your bras multiple days in a row, not only because of hygiene issues, but also because the elastic in them requires time in between wears to readjust back to a more supportive state. When the fabric loses elasticity, that’s the cue for the dreaded sag…
