It’s always a cool feeling to dress up to go to a posh event, especially if it’s an invite-only thing in Hollywood. And that’s where I ended up on Friday night with the manfriend – the Gilt City + Infiniti Liberation from Conformity event. Held at the Siren Studios on Sunset Blvd, it featured open bar, an exhibit with customized Infiniti Q50s by Thom Browne and Zac Posen, and two roomfuls of Gilt City items marked down for purchase. I actually put my outfit together last-minute. Sticking with my signature black, I decided to go with the best purchase I have ever made for my closet – a black body conscious long-sleeved dress from Forever 21 that was only $8 (of course, it sold out online within hours). It is by far one of my favorite pieces in my closet. It exudes sexiness without revealing too much skin – very classy! As for the footwear, with the chilly night in mind, I opted for sheer black stockings and ankle boots instead of going bare legged in heels, and I’m so glad I went with that option. Fashion is all about taking risks, beauty is pain, blah blah blah, but I, Sensible Sally, refuse to risk catching a cold solely for the sake of fashion.
After the event, we tried out a late dinner at Slow Fish, which I definitely will visit again. Service was on point, ambiance was gothic-chic, and the food did not disappoint. This sushi joint offers black rice (looks shady, but it’s a great healthy substitute for white rice) which I unfortunately forgot to try, but I guess that gives me an excuse to come again and satiate my curiosity.
The last stop of the night was The Grove, where I make it my mission to visit every winter. I just love the holiday displays and the lights. It’s just so romantically beautiful and is the perfect place to stroll around with your significant other at night. Beautiful end to a super cool Friday Date Night.
