If you’ve heard of or seen Ellen DeGeneres’ hilarious spoof of Matthew McConaughey’s Lincoln commercial, then you’ve already been exposed to the new Lincoln MKC even if you hadn’t realize it.
Two nights ago, H and I received the MKC as our new ride for 48 hours, courtesy of Lincoln Motor Company. As if that wasn’t amazingly generous enough, we were also gifted a $100 prepaid Visa card to dine at any location of our choice, so naturally, seeing as we both love a good medium-rare steak, we headed over to Mastro’s Steakhouse for a highly satisfying dinner (menu tip: order the lobster mashed potatoes in addition to your steak).
Lincoln, at least to me, unfortunately has a reputation of catering more to the older “grandparent” generation, but the new revamp of its designs has gotten me giving the cars a second thought. Take this MKC, for example – there are really no other two words to describe it except modern and beautiful. The brakes may be slightly too sensitive for my liking, but overall, from its design to its maneuvering, this compact crossover is perfect for either the young professional or a small family. For those interested in the basic specs:
Engine: Turbo 2.3L I4 || Power: 285 HP / 305 LB-FT || Transmission: 6-Speed Automatic || 0-60 Time: 7.0 Seconds (est) Drivetrain: All-Wheel Drive || Seating: 2+3 || MPG: 18 City / 26 HWY || Base Price: $33,995
A bit of a mix between the Audi Q3 and Volkswagon Tiguan in terms of aesthetics, the MKC features an aggressive face with its split-wing grill (love it), but the severe look is balanced out with the deep side creases and round back. But enough about the exterior; it’s the interior I like to take note of when testing out a new car, because, as with clothes, I want to feel 100% comfortable in what I’m wearing (or in this case, sitting in). The interior boasts a minimalist but sleek and posh look with seats so luxurious you could nap comfortably in them for hours without neck or back cramps, and one of the first things I noticed while driving it (and also riding shotgun) is the lack of noise – both street noise and engine noise – due to the noise cancellation technology that the MKC utilizes. Another favorite aspect? You can start the car remotely! Yep, you read that correctly. No more baking in your car on a hot summer day while you wait in a pool of sweat for your air conditioning to cool down the cabin. No more shivering on your ice-cold leather seats in the winter while you agonizingly wait for the tush-warmer to heat up.
For the look of the evening, I decided to mirror Lincoln’s classic and timeless spirit. Houndstooth has always held that elegant appeal for me, so it only seemed fitting to incorporate that pattern into my outfit. A black and white color scheme also added on to the classic look that I was going for, but I kept the outfit young and lighthearted with a full mini-skirt silhouette and caged Ivanka Trump booties.
Lincoln is definitely making a comeback, and I’m so glad to be able to personally experience it.
