Capsule Collection: To Tommy

yea

Yesterday, we talked about SJP’s new shoe line, and today, I shall rave about yet another capsule collection, except this time, it’s a collaboration between “New Girl” star Zooey Deschanel and American designer Tommy Hilfiger. I don’t know about you, but when I watch “New Girl,” I always find my attention drawn to the character Jessica’s dresses, which are all super cute and flirty, especially when paired with her black stockings, which is how she almost always styles her looks.

This collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger – a collection of 16 dresses – channels a bit of Jessica Day and American-Girl classic, given that “[Zooey] reminds me of Audrey Hepburn for her sense of humor, her sophistication,” Hilfiger has stated. “She is very bright and very funny, and really down to earth, the girl next door. At the same time, she has a Jackie O type of chicness to her.” As seen from the released sketches and campaign photos (can we just stop for a minute and gush about how GREAT her hair looks?!), the collection, cutely titled “To Tommy,” revolves around Sixties-inspired short dresses and shirtdresses that embody a red/white/blue color scheme. Pleats, piqué, silks, and linens are among the elements that one may see and feel from the designs.

The collection will be priced in the $98 and $199 range and 14 of the 16 dresses will debut in select Macy’s stores beginning April 14. On April 21, the entire lineup will be available on tommy.com and Tommy Hilfiger anchor and specialty stores in North America, Europe, and Japan. From the photos, the designs look absolutely adorable, and I have high expectations for the collection. But I guess we’ll have to see for ourselves in spring when these designs become tangible for us!
