It’s always interesting to see the outcome when a celebrity collaborates with a prominent designer on a fashion line. It’s exceptionally exciting when the celebrity is fashion icon and shoe connoisseur Sarah Jessica Parker. THE Carrie Bradshaw of Carrie Bradshaws (can you tell I’m a fan of Sex and the City?).
Naturally, as a girl who takes clothes very seriously, I am no stranger to the obsession with shoes that many other fellow girls suffer. Even though I was born with ridiculously small feet for my height (what other 5’5 girl needs to wear a size 4 or 4.5 when it comes to heels?!), I still ogle over beautiful shoes. I still fantasize about wearing them up and down a long hallway. I still wish I could bring them home so they can meet my other shoes and live happily in my closet. Anyways, it comes as no surprise that I was thrilled when I heard the news that Sarah Jessica Parker would be collaborating with (who else?) Manolo Blahnik, and I’m just itching for February 28 to arrive, because that’s when the SJP collection will be debuting at select Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com. Featuring pumps, booties, flats, and T-straps that uniquely boast a small grosgrain ribbon stitched to the back of the heel – a personal touch reminding SJP of her own past – these Italian-made shoes will be priced in an arguably “affordable” range, as the press release specified. And I say arguably because the affordability of the prices ($195 to $485) is certainly debatable. But even if I can’t easily afford a pair, I can still dream about them, right?
