I don’t know about you, but sometimes, I just hate everything in my closet.
But then one day, a light bulb in my brain ignited. By incorporating in some menswear, courtesy of H, I could potentially double my wardrobe options! And so I gave that a try. Given that the easiest piece to play with is probably the classic button-down shirt, I grabbed one of H’s casual Uniqlo shirts and pitted it against a feminine flared skirt. And so began my first baby step into la garconne dressing.
Granted, it’s nowhere close to a new concept (Coco Chanel was already employing this strategy back in the twenties), but it will definitely give your tired-out closet an uplift, all without any additional financial expenses on your part.
Other items/ideas from your man’s closet you can attempt to mix into your own wardrobe: Flannel Shirts / Loafers (cute women styles here) / Snapbacks / Skinny Ties / Bomber Jackets (confession: sometimes I steal my dad’s old Members Only jacket for low-key weekend looks)
Top: Uniqlo (great options here and here too)
Bottom: Zara
Shoes: Cole Haan (similar)
Bag: Kate Spade (similar)
