America squirms in turmoil with the presidential elections, and New York City is experiencing what some may term “bipolar weather.” One day, I find myself bundled up in my faux suede coat. The next day, I can barely breathe in a leather jacket. This happened to be such a day – it was a brilliant Saturday in the city that called for a turtleneck sweater from Stylewe paired with over-the-knee boots. And of course, even on such a beautiful day, I was still thinking “Hm, it looks so gorgeous outside, I think I’ll wear black.” But really, I just wanted to wear out my new black sweater which had come in the mail, all ridiculously soft and cozy in its splendor. Also, the chic factor was undeniable, as I soon discovered it as quite the compliment magnet with its mock neck and 3/4 balloon sleeves.
Even so, a monochromatic scheme in an all black hue is forever classic, not to mention universally flattering. I spent the day with a friend, a fellow lover of an all-black wardrobe, and together, like dark shadows against concrete, we explored the colors of Chelsea, hitting up the newest Australian cafe in town, Citizens of Chelsea, before wandering through several art galleries in the area, including the Claire Oliver Gallery and Lisson Gallery on 24th Street. Late afternoon, we finally emerged back out onto the sidewalks for air just in time to witness cotton candy skies amidst a gentle evening breeze.

“Like dark shadows against concrete” – I love it, you are a beautiful writer Josephine and I simply adore that sweater. As a fellow black wardrobe fanatic, it’s very exciting to find a garment that takes it up a notch with sleeves like that. I hope you had a lovely time exploring Chelsea 🙂
