BLACK AND GOLD FOOD AFFAIRE

Oh how I love a good dinner! I’m all for casual sit-downs, but sometimes it’s just pure fun to dress up a bit, take in some valet parking, indulge in refined tasting menu courses, and soak in the night vibes of the city.

And so that pretty much sums up my (belated) Valentine dinner, a gourmet five-course meal at Patina, also known as that one swanky restaurant nestled under the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. Patrons can choose from a three, four, or five-course tasting menu (we went with the five), and for the ravenous diners, there’s also the option of the chef’s tasting eight course menu. For those with deep pockets, like the young Chinese couple seated at the table next to us that kept their attention continuously glued to their phones rather than on each other, Patina also offers the black truffle menu (seriously some fancy stuff right there).

If you scroll to the very bottom, you’ll see my little food collage consisting of my five delectable courses: 1) Veal Tonnato (marinated veal loin, quail egg, edmame tomato confit, tonnato sauce), 2) Butter Poached Lobster (best dish of the night: bone marrow mousse, enoki mushroom, salsify lobster nage), 3) Beef Tenderloin (shishito pepper, horseradish mustard, bearnaise potato compression, bordelaise), 4) Artisanal Cheese Selection, and finally, 5) Warm Fig Compote for dessert (hazelnut financier, lavender chiboust and honey ice cream). It might not look like a lot, but I was stupidly and happily full by the end of the meal… even though it meant I had to make sure my little food baby wasn’t visible under my Warehouse dress!

But that’s the thing about Warehouse dresses (I’m obviously a huge fan of the label. Remember my other favorite Warehouse look?)… they’re just so unique and well-crafted that even going in with the knowledge of a potential food baby, you still can’t resist putting on that one dress for that one special night out. This dress is by no means a new purchase, but it’s something I have no qualms about wearing again and again, and I love that it puts a modern twist on the classic LBD with its unique front gold zip detail.
